Chasing 70 Degrees shows two kinds of weather: typical conditions for a time of year, and forecasts for the next few days. Here’s where each comes from.
Typical weather
Average highs and lows, and the chances of a rainy or heavy-rain day, are 30-year averages for 1991–2020 from the weather station nearest each place. They describe what’s usual for that time of year, not a forecast.
- United States: U.S. Climate Normals 1991–2020, from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information.
- Canada: Canadian Climate Normals 1991–2020, from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada.
We convert the published figures into weekly averages, and Canadian temperatures from Celsius, so numbers in the app can differ slightly from the originals. Neither agency endorses Chasing 70 Degrees.
Forecasts
Forecasts in the iOS app come from Apple Weather. Apple lists its forecast providers on its data sources page.
